  2. Dear Mr. Dave,

Thank you very much for your videos. I find them not just simple to learn but fancy to hear also.
Sorry that I'm currently a student away from home and I don't have much money so that I can donate for you.
But just want to let you know how much I love your songs and how much I'd support you in the near future.

Best wishes to you and hope that these beautiful little pieces of your generous soul ( aka your songs ) to us would get more and more listeners.

  6. Hey I really enjoy watching your videos. I have played guitar since I was a teenager but I'm not particuarily good. Any way, your videos are great as they break down everything into digestible bites that are small enough for me to handle mentally. I wonder if you know of a song "egyptian fantasy". I heard it on an allen toussaint cd and theres one guy on here (you tube) playing it on guitar, If you can tolerate that kind of music, I'd like to hear your take on any of the song. If not, thanks alot for all the instruction and entertaining moments!

    1. Hey Bill, I just came across your comment (9 years after the fact!) I exactly resonate with your comment "been playing guitar since a teenager, but not particularly good"! Yep! Me too! Still, we try! This Egyptian piece is really cool. I just started working it out in ukulele and it's fairly simple. It would be pretty simple as a duet I think. If you're still interested in learning it and haven't yet, feel free to respond . . If you even see this comment!

  12. Thanks Dave for your utube site, learning to play these songs we've heard for so long is alot of fun. I don't know if you take requests, but I'd really like to learn the lead break in the middle of the Three Dog Night (Hoyt Axton) song called Never Been to Spain. It's a fun song and I've been able to figure out parts of it, but it's just too much for me. Thanks for all you do, kj

  25. Dave, I was so happy to find your ukulele YouTube videos -- ESPECIALLY "Little Uke Blues" and "Blues On Uke." I'm a 62 year old crappy guitar player despite having a guitar around for 50 years (damn my lack of talent and musical memory), but have fallen in love with the little ukulele.

I want to learn how to improvise on the uke so I don't have to carry sheet music around with me. Thus, I could really use all of the ukulele blues tab that you have laying around the house (in the upbeat style of the two videos I mention).

I will gladly reimburse any efforts. You've already given me some cool stuff that I've been building off of. Please MORE MORE! I'm lovin it! Tavit of: Tavitandlynn@gmail.com

  50. Hello David,
I am teaching myself tenor guitar CGDA and Irish tenor banjo GDAE. I've just listened to Stevie Dunne Banjo's Live at the Crosskeys pre release album on mp3. I found "Sally Gardens" by you from several years ago and it is like Stevie Dunne's, slow tempo and so many confuse it with "Down By the Sally Gardens" which is a fast reel.
I really like these slower tunes and especially if they're Celtic. I've just learned "Calum's Road" by Capercaillie it's a Strathspey but sounds lovely on tenor guitar.
I am just wondering what tuning you had on your guitar when you did that video lesson of Sally Gardens (would it have been Irish guitar DADGAD)?
    Bye for now,
    Andrew
